The National Service Scheme (NSS) is a central sector scheme of the Government of India, Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports. he programme aims at instilling the idea of social welfare in students, and to provide service to society without bias. The NSS volunteers work to ensure that everyone who is needy gets help to enhance their standard of living and lead a life of dignity. In doing so, the volunteers learn from people in villages how to lead a good life despite the scarcity of resources. It also provides help in natural and manmade disasters by providing food, clothing and first aid to the disaster victims.
Activity: NSS Day Celebration

Highlights
The NSS Unit celebrated NSS Day with an orientation on NSS rules, values, and responsibilities. Volunteers learned the NSS Song and Clap, followed by engaging activities. Winners of the Hindi Diwas competitions were felicitated during the program. All volunteers actively participated, and the event concluded with a Vote of Thanks.

Activity: Mass Singing of “Vande Mataram”

Highlights
Students and faculty gathered at 9:30 AM for a mass singing of the national song “Vande Mataram.” The event witnessed enthusiastic participation and helped instill a strong sense of unity, patriotism, and national pride among all attendees.

Activity: Visit to Apna Ghar Ashram – “Dil Se Diwali”

Highlights
The NSS, NCC, and DLLE units visited Apna Ghar Ashram, where they sponsored one-time breakfast and lunch for the residents. As part of the “Dil Se Diwali” celebration, volunteers created rangoli, decorated the space with kandils and diyas, and spent quality time interacting with the Prabhujans, spreading joy and festive warmth.

Activity: Coastal Cleaning Activity

Highlights
The NCC Unit of Gnyanodaya College conducted a Coastal Cleaning Activity at Suruchi Beach. After a brief orientation and safety instructions, the beach stretch was divided into sectors, and cadets were assigned specific zones for cleaning. Equipped with gloves, collection bags, and basic waste-segregation tools, the cadets actively removed litter and practiced on-site segregation of wet and dry waste. The activity helped promote environmental awareness and community responsibility among the students.

Highlights
The Independence Day celebration included the flag hoisting ceremony followed by the distribution of ‘B’ Certificates to NCC cadets. The event was attended by college authorities, alumni, and dignitaries. The celebration aimed to honor the sacrifices of freedom fighters and inspire students to uphold the values of unity and national pride.

Highlights
The NCC Unit of Gnyanodaya College, in collaboration with NSS and DLLE, organized a Har Ghar Tiranga rally. A total of 35 cadets and 105 students actively participated. The rally began at 10:00 AM, with students and cadets enthusiastically chanting patriotic slogans while waving the national flag. The activity concluded with the distribution of snacks.

Highlights
The seminar aimed to create awareness among cadets about the Ayushman Bharat Yojana—its purpose, benefits, eligibility, and registration process. The session was interactive, allowing cadets to ask questions and understand the practical importance of the government’s health insurance scheme. The event proved beneficial for all 47 participants.

Highlights
The NSS Unit conducted an orientation session for the new volunteers of 2025–26. The program began with a warm welcome to all volunteers and dignitaries, followed by an introduction to the aims, activities, and responsibilities of NSS for first-year students.

Activity: Kargil Vijay Diwas Celebration

Highlights
The college observed Kargil Vijay Diwas to honor the bravery and sacrifices of India’s soldiers. NCC cadets paid tribute through a short ceremony, reflecting on the courage and contribution of the Armed Forces. The event helped instill patriotism and respect for national heroes among students.
